The end of August came and went and still the heat continued. But finally, after several fronts stalled due to high pressure ridges in Arizona, the cool air came down and basically said "Enough is enough".

Here you can see the sequence as the cold air continued down into Mexico.

After the cool air chilled us out of our record breaking September's heat there was an article in the El Paso Times.... to the effect that the cool air wouldn't last. Boy were they wrong.
