Just when the everything else is nearing harvest... a winter crop is being planted. Lettuce is a crop that requires cool and cold weather. The El Paso Southwest is just right for this crop either in the fall of late winter.

Many different varieties are grow in the Upper Valley. The iceberg lettuce and the green leaf, shown at left, varieties are favorite amongst valley farmers.
