Cat Fight Leaves Cougars on Top.

It was nothing less than a cat fight. But these were big cats.

The Cougars of Franklin High School, perenial powerhouses came down into the river valley to face off against the Panthers of Gadsten High Schoo.

Franklin was heavily favored, what with their outstanding performance the week before as they tore apart the Las Cruces Bulldawgs.

But Gadsten would not have anything to do with point spread. They dug in their heals for the home crowd which filled the stands to cheer their team on.

Franklin scored first after piling up lots of yardage. The Panthers would bend but not break many times forcing Franklin to punt.

Then came the moment that made it all worth while for the home team and their fans. Wide Receiver David Sanchez scored on a long kick-off return and the Gadsten fams were literally walking on air. The score was tied going into the halftime at 7 - 7.

Franklin must have decided to step it up a notch seeing that the Panthers were one bunch of cats that were not going to roll over.

After a hard fought battle... the Cougars put away the pesky Panthers 22-7.
