In the early morning hours of July 13, 2005; an elderly man was struck by a vehicle driven by a 28 year old man. The identity of the pedestrian was not certain.

The victim had just left his truck parked a short distance from the scene due to mechanical problems and was walking south on South Desert near Artcraft and I-10.

EMS crews arrived on the scene along with police officers, however, they were not able to revive the victim. The driver of the car was questioned and released. The investigation by the police is still ongoing.
