The Election's Over -- Mission Accomplished?

The runoff election is over. Mr. Cook has been elected Mayor and Mrs. Lilly has been elected District #1 Representative, Mr. O'Rourke was elected .#8 Representative last month. Mission accomplished, right?

WRONG! If we have learned anything from past events, it's that we must remain vigilant. We cannot let our guard down for a minute.

We now have two City Reps. who will listen to our needs and desires. We need to make sure that we express ourselves to them both.. There are many tasks that need to be addressed. Some examples are as follows:

1. Arroyo Preservation Ordinance
2. Smart Growth Initiative
3. Traffic Issues and Traffic Planning
4. Neighborhood Plan Development
5. Zoning Review and Revision
6. Taking a Regional Perspective On Problems
7. Economic Development
8. Property Valuation and Taxes

Take a moment now to address one or more of the issues above (or any other issue that is important to you), e-mail Rep. Lilly or Rep. O'Rourke and express your views.

I can almost hear you saying "Why bother?" With the previous administration, trying to get someone to listen was an exercise in futility. The major change with the newly elected administration is openness and a willingness to listen. It would be a shame if, after working so hard to get the right people elected, no one speaks!
