Mayor John Cook Gets IT.
Inauguration 2005.

After many hard and somewhat muddy races; the winners were all sounding the same bell of: Harmony, Team Work and Progress.

Some would say that this has been sounded before by every other City Council and they may be right. The difference was that you could hear the sincerity and passion in the speeches. And you could tell that this was not your run of the mil council.

To start things off, Joyce Wilson, the City Manger, started things off and received a hearty round of applause for her ability to function as well as she did in the previous administration.

Mayor John Cook, once swore in, jumped into a version of "El Paso is Your Land..." to the tune of "This Land is Your Land...". And it worked. Every one there was inspired by the energy and sense of promise reverberating in the Abraham Chavez Hall.

The speakes were varied. From the shortest speech from the shortest City Council Representative... Ann Morgan Lilly; to some very impassioned and provacative speeches. In one instance, the crowd was waiting to see if Beto O' Rourke was actually going to have a marriage ceremony performed onstage as his fiance blushed in the back row on stage. There was no wedding ceremony.

This Administration has set the bar at a new height in terms of potential, synchronizzation and goodwill. They face some difficult issues and are requesting everyone's assistance and support.
