LIlly Reaches 1st Goal: Runoff Election.

Ann Morgan Lilly, Candidate for City Representative District #1 garnered a huge portion of the total votes cast in the May 7th election. Her 32% were enough to keep Austin from winning outright.

Now, comes the tough part. The election is a face-off between the incumbent, Susan Austin, and the woman that got tired of trying to get Austin to work with the community. Ann Lilly had enough and decided that if the voters would give her a shot; she would be the kind of representative that people would be able to access.

Lilly speaking after the election; "I want to thank the voters for getting me into the runoff. I am so thrilled. And I know that it is going to be a tough campaign to win the district election."

"It is very exciting, because it gives me a chance to go forward with the campaign and with my ideas. We need to preserve and improve the quality of life. We need to save the arroyos.... Because, if they are destroyed they are gone forever. I also want to be able to talk with the voters and see how we can help them make a better life for them and their families."

Ric Schecter, who finished in 4th place has thrown his support behind Lilly and urges all voters to get out the vote and keep this dream alive. Schecter plans on continuing to work for the Westside and the Upper Valley by insuring that City Council understands the issues.

When asked if he would also support and endorse Lilly, Roy Gray offered only a "no comment". Gray 's campaign was centered upon showing the faults of Austin continually..
