Finally, Something other than Dust in Sight..
La Union has been under siege for years it seems. For a while in late March, traffic into the old section of town was rough going. But all that has changed.
The major part of Mercantile Road is paved from Alvarez Road down to near Hiway 28. That intersection is still dust and gravel. Ms. Aguilar the owner of Mesion La Union, has complained that the traffic dumps dust into her restaurant. When we spoke with Ms. Margarita de La Torre, at La Union Mercantile, general store, in early March she was complaining that the road work had damaged the walls of her nearly 70-year old adobe. But progress has been made. Now it is time for all of us in the valley to drive extra careful... because there are more of us now.
