Sombras del Pasado Restaurant & Bar

We recently published a story on the closure of the famous Griggs Restaurant site again. Well now, its open again with new owners. Yvonne and Rudy Olivas have done away with the art deco style left by the previous owners and restored the wonderful old adobe to its magnificent 20th century splendor with the opening of the Sombras del Pasado-West. West stands for Upper Valley.

Rudy has operated the Sombras del Pasado on Socorro Road in the Lower Valley. That restaurant is a beautiful old hacienda and is quite renowned. To visit call: 858-8090 10205 Socorro Road.

Rudy has his own style of cooking and incorporates traditional Mexican spices and herbs along with a gourmet's touch to the sauces and marinades used in his fabulous dishes. And of course, Rudy has a flare for the extravagant; try the Flaming Shrimp Chile con Queso. Rudy features great steaks, seafood and Mexican food.

As a special treat to his guests, Rudy has enlisted the talents of Los Brillantes; a brother singing duet.

Patron after patron walks out with only the best recommendations and a satisfied smile on their face. To Yvonne and Rudy, that is what it is all about.
