Chile Ristras: A Family Affair.
The Orduñez family has been making chile ristras and selling them to the Upper Valley community for decades. And thanks to her and her family members there are plenty of great ristras to go around.
The family makes plenty of the traditionaly strand ristras; both small and large. Another specialty is the wreath shaped ristra. Besides the red ripened green chile, Maria and her family members use smaller chiles, like "chile pequin" as well.
Unfortunately, the patriarch of this ristra making family recently passed away. We spoke with him a couple of years ago as he sat outside on the trunk lid of his ristra covered truck. Mr. Orduñez enjoyed working and selling something as beautiful as the ristra. For the Upper Valley Living Magazine feature on the Ristra including a Photo Gallery for your enjoyment.

We hope to steer many valley and Westide residents to Maria's stall at the corner of Mesa and Doniphan.
