Miners Lose Ground Early in First Half to Tulsa.
The UTEP Miners were coming off a quick start this season which led to high expectations but the team couldn't sustaint that fast pace and stumbled at the end for an overall average season.
UTEP fans were not so forgiving. Many were heading for the doors at half-time when Tulsa came to town. Apparently, the fans were hoping for UTEP to show Tulsa just who the Miners were. The Miners did just that as they fall flat during the first half and although they put up some more effort in the second half they still shot overall a low 24.6 % from the field in a 66-51 loss.
The Miners were down double-digit at half-time and the score early in the second half was Tulsa 34-21. The game in Tulsa in January went to overtime and fans were hoping to get some revenge but the Miners were not up to the challenge as both teams were 5-7 in confernece play.
