Rio Grande Gets Up to Speed.

Without the risk of overflowing its banks, the Rio Grande was set free again in March after its winter in hiberation behind the gates of Elephant Butte Dam.

Water allotments for farmers is still up in the air. While there was plenty of snow south of us in the Sierra Madres of Northern Mexico and in Ruidoso, New Mexico; snow in the Southern Colorado mountains was less than average. Snow run off is expected to yield a below average amount of water in the Butte and thus farmers will have to do without some of the water needed for crops.
