"Crotch-Rocket" Rider Suffers Serious Injury.
Traffic was backed up for nearly a mile along South Desert Friday night and I-10 traffic was sluggish as the rubbernecks slowed to see what all the lights were about. Unfortunately, for Mario Chavez, the lights were about to go out if if it wasn’t for the quick assistance of EPFD and paramedics who rushed to the scene just north of Artcraft.
Chavez, 24, was riding his Honda motorcycle along South Desert from the area near the Northwest Campus of El Paso Community College toward Artcraft when he lost control of his built for speed steed.
 These motorcycles are so powerful and so light that if the driver is not focusing on driving safely... they can easily get addicted to the adrenaline rush of the danger and acceleration of these wingless jets.
Soon EPPD officers were on the scene diverting traffic along the shoulder right next to one of the EMT vehicles. This allowed Chavez’s father to arrive on the scene and Mr. Chavez was in shock too, but, was relieved to see that his son was being so well cared for and that he was going to make it.
Chavez was wearing a safety helmet and although there were internal injuries and certain soft-tissue trauma Chavez had only serious scrapes along his legs and back. Chavez was expected to make a full-recovery.
