Mt. Snow Adventure for Young Climber.

It wasn’t Mt. Everest but for this young climber it was a great adventure. Recent winter snows have teased the Upper Valley and the Franklin Mts. with a dusting here and there. And while it is nothing to write home about when you consider that upper state New York was shoveling out of 10 ft... that’s FEET of snow in one week... still, for us desert dwellers used to having dust in our teeth a little snow goes a long way.

This must have been what the Rodriguez family from Northeast El Paso was thinking as they drove over Trans-Mountain Road to take a look out over the Westside and Upper Valley to see if there was any snow. That was none, but, the mountians still had some on thier north side. So Karen, 7, decided to conquer the slopes.

Not quite as sure footed as a mountain goat, this little lamb was working her way down the tough terrain. A bit harder to come down that go up sometimes especially when there is snow all around and the footing is not secure. Karen tried to carefully find a dry spot to step on.

What the decent didn’t take out of her was her playfulness. As she neared the parking area and could now see her path a little more secure... and our hearts were back in our chest... she decided to make one last snowball and toss it at us. “Thanks!”

So before she got to be a better aim... we climbed up to interview her and then she was all smiles.... Oh, by the way. As we climbed down to continue on our way, there was a flurry of snow crystals raining down upon us... but, she just smiled as if it were snowing once again.
