Plenty of Snow on the Franklin Mountains. .
The Upper Valley Beacon had reported early snow falling in northern New Mexico in October and suggested that it might mean that we were in for a cold wet winter.
Then came the Indian Summer of all Indian Summers. It was beach weather past Thanksgiving. Go figure.
With the end of November, the Artic Clipper Roared over the Rockies and blasted not only the tail end of the Rockies... that would be us; but, it also froze most of northern Mexico. The Tarahumara Indians living in the Sierra Madre moutains in Western Chihuahua State were affected.
December was unusually cold. The lowest temperature in the Upper Valley was around 16º degrees farenhiet. But with the end to any hopes for a White Christmas the 2nd of January saw plenty of snow in the higher elevations. So we went up to the Franklins to see the snow. More in the upcoming issue of Upper Valley Living Magazine including those who were up there ahead of us enjoying the snow.
In case you missed it... Enjoy.
