Magaña Fired: Not for Animals... But for Human Deaths.
Reports that the reason for the proposed firing of Dr. Magaña have been vague and deflectionary. The main reason given, perhaps because there are plenty of video clips of the Animal Shelter and sad looking canines, is that there was mismanagement of the way in which El Paso dogs and cats are treated.
Given that the danger of death to humans is on the rise and the prevention of these deaths so pitiful by the El Paso City/County Health Department; it seems that perhaps the reason for Dr. Magaña’s firing by the City Council and the County Commissioners was due to the more important reason: that residents in El Paso suffer infection of deadly viruses at an increasing rather than decreasing rate.
Dr. Magaña ignored the warnings provided by our investigation. It was learned that Dr. Magaña was either comtemplating retirement or only said so when he was informed that he would be fired. The question must be asked: How could Dr. Magaña focus on politics and a few dollars when lives were lost because of his negligence? The same must be asked of City officials.

The fact that this has been down played by the media and that the media has attempted to sweep the real reason under the rug can only mean that wealth is at stake.
It seems that some people prefer to have the residents think it was about the pets rather than their own life and that of their elderly and children.
The local media, print and TV, all have a lot at stake. Millions of dollars in advertising. UpperValleyBeacon.com sent out alerts to the media as well. Not one of them bothered to check on the story. They didn't even attempt to obtain the real story when Dr. Magaña was about to get the ax. Instead, they all ran with the animal story like docile children.
Yet, the City and County may end up paying more. Another reason for the cover-up is that there may be residents who find it offensive to learn that they were infected, were hospitalized and even had relatives die due to the negligence of their local officials.
If there are law suits filed due to the negligence of the Health Department then everyone will end up paying more. But, it may also mean that the developers who run local politics will end up with the largest amount of punitive damages.
Remember. It just takes one bite.
